Congratulations

TMAC members we are finally up and running with the first weekend of flying from the new field. El' Presidente' had the very well deserved first flight from the field on Saturday 4/11/06 after a long days hard work by a small group to clear the remaining Hawthorns and mow the huge area. Sunday was another great day and everybody who flew enjoyed themselves. I would recommend bringing sun protection in the form of popup canvas and seating as the days are long and sun harsh! Also the odd chilly stacked with cold drinks and food. The ground is now really hard and entrance should be along past the Northern side of the water pump station turning back to the corner fence of the sports grounds as per this map.(pdf)

THANKS TO:

Brett from Tree Fellas for his help in chipping the Hawthorns, and I would recommend to any member wanting their trees trimmed to use Brett.

Tamaki College for the use of their large tractor.

John Court for the preparation of the runway strip, fantastic job really appreciate the results.

From the President

Welcome to our first online newsletter, and a special welcome to our new club members.  I suspect that club membership will grow more and more quickly in the future.

All consents and leases have been granted and are in place.  Our first job will be to get the flying field fenced - Tony has got that project under control.  A couple of working bees should see the actual runway knocked into shape.  We will borrow a local school tractor to roll and mow the site a few times, then it will be all on!

After many hours of sweat and hard work, Pete Taylor has got our ride-on lawn tractor up and running - it's probably got four reverse gears and one forward, but who cares, he can drive it himself!  We will keep you updated on the progress.  Help at the work bees would be appreciated.  Time and date to be advised.

Feel free to come along to our club night at the club house at Elstree Ave, Fridays, 7:30pm.  Coffee and tea are available, along with a warm welcome for everyone!  Bring a model or anything to do with the hobby with you, as it's always interesting to see what turns up.  Don't forget we are a model aircraft club and that means radio control, power, gliders, free flight, control line, indoor and helicopters.

Make yourself famiiar with the club requirements for the use of the field.  It's been a long time getting the field so let's look after it.  The safety check on models is important, it amazes me how complacent we get about it.  Often it is the small things that make the difference between loading your model into your vehicle at the end of the day or chucking a bag of bits in the boot - we can all learn from each other.

I must say ARF's are good.

I'm ready!

Fly safe, and enjoy!
